The Palazzo

Giovanni Paisiello and the Theatre
Palazzo Paisiello celebrates the legacy of the renowned composer Giovanni Paisiello, one of the most influential figures in 18th-century music. Paisiello's rich and varied career led him to success across Europe, with prestigious positions at the court of Catherine the Great in St. Petersburg and at Napoleon Bonaparte's court in Paris. With his innovative style, blending captivating melodies with refined orchestration, Paisiello influenced composers like Mozart and Rossini, shaping the evolution of comic opera.
Facing the palace, the Paisiello Theatre, inaugurated in 1870 and designed by architect Oronzo Bernardini, stands as an important cultural landmark for Lecce.
Design and Furnishings
The renovation of Palazzo Paisiello blends tradition and modernity, preserving local architectural features such as star-shaped vaulted ceilings and reinterpreting cement tile floors with a contemporary aesthetic. Nearly all of the furnishings are custom-designed and handcrafted, combining local craftsmanship with modern, functional design. Every detail of the palace is carefully considered to create an elegant and welcoming atmosphere, where the historic charm of Lecce meets sophisticated design solutions.
